Job Overview: Machine Setter
The Machine Setter is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and maintaining production machinery to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality manufacturing operations. This role involves preparing machines for production runs, performing changeovers, monitoring machine performance, and troubleshooting equipment issues to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and prepare machinery and equipment for production according to job specifications.
- Perform machine changeovers, tooling adjustments, and product change setups.
- Ensure machines are operating efficiently and producing products to quality standards.
- Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments during production runs.
- Conduct routine inspections and basic preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve machine faults, breakdowns, and operational issues.
- Verify that raw materials, tooling, and machine settings are correct before production commences.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and company operating procedures.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Assist with operator training on machine operation and best practices where required.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Proven experience as a Machine Setter in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of production processes, machine setups, and quality standards.
- Good understanding of health and safety regulations within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet production deadlines.
