About the Role
The Process Safety Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining process safety management (PSM) systems to ensure safe and reliable plant operations in Saudi Arabia. The client will cover all relocation costs. This role focuses on identifying and mitigating process-related risks, supporting engineering and operations teams, and ensuring compliance with industry safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the facility’s PSM systems.
- Lead or participate in HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, and risk assessment studies.
- Conduct process safety audits, gap analyses, and compliance reviews.
- Support Management of Change (MOC) processes and ensure proper documentation.
- Provide process safety expertise to engineering, operations, and maintenance teams.
- Review process designs, P&IDs, and engineering documentation for safety compliance.
- Evaluate plant modifications and ensure risks are adequately controlled.
- Support incident investigations and root-cause analyses.
- Ensure compliance with local and international process safety regulations.
- Prepare process safety reports, performance metrics, and documentation.
- Maintain risk registers and ensure action items are tracked and completed.
- Deliver process safety training to technical teams and operators.
- Promote best practices and a strong safety culture across the facility.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process safety performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering (or related discipline).
- 5+ to 7+ years of experience in process safety engineering within oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery, or heavy manufacturing environments.
- Strong understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, SIL, MOC, and quantitative risk assessment methodologies.
- Experience working with international safety standards (API, OSHA, IEC, NFPA, ISO).
