Job Description
Sagen Advisory is recruiting on behalf of a dynamic and fast-growing accounting services practice for a Professional Accountant / Associate General Accountant AGA(SA), based in Somerset West, Cape Town. This role offers the opportunity to lead a team of junior accountants while supporting senior management in servicing a diverse portfolio of clients, including private companies, close corporations, trusts, and individuals.
The ideal candidate is a qualified SAIPA Professional Accountant / Associate General Accountant with a minimum of 3 years managerial experience in an accounting or auditing practice. They are technically proficient, detail-oriented, and client-focused, with strong leadership and communication skills. They must be fluent in Afrikaans and English, capable of managing multiple portfolios, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. A Registered Tax Practitioner status is essential, and Independent Reviewer registration is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of junior accountants
- Plan and review workflow and deliverables
- Ensure timely receipt of tax and financial data
- Compile, review, and submit financial statements and tax returns
- Communicate with clients regarding progress, assessments, and SARS correspondence
- Provide tax planning consultations
- Manage tax affairs for assigned clients
- Respond professionally to SARS queries and notices
- Liaise with clients on financial and tax matters
- Stay current with accounting and tax developments (CPD)
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards
- Manage time, budgets, and meet performance targets

Qualifications & Experience:
- SAIPA Registered Professional Accountant with up-to-date CPD/ Associate General Accountant AGA(SA)
- Registered Tax Practitioner
- Independent Reviewer registration (advantageous)
- Accounting Degree or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years experience in an accounting/auditing practice as a manager
or
Minimum 2 years post-articles experience
Remuneration:
R30 000 R38 000 pm, depending on years of experience and level of qualification.
