About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Commis Chef / Junior CDP to join our small, creative brigade in a contemporary restaurant setting in Cape Town’s Observatory area. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional dining experiences and contributing to the success of our menu-focused restaurant.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with prep work, including food preparation and presentation
- Contribute to service in an open-kitchen environment, maintaining consistency and precision
- Work closely with the Sous Chef and Chef Patron to ensure seamless kitchen operations
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and efficiency throughout the kitchen
- Collaborate with team members to achieve shared goals and objectives
Requirements
- 13 years experience in a professional kitchen
- Strong all-round kitchen skills, including knife work and basic butchery
- Understanding of FIFO, stock rotation, and kitchen organisation
- Ability to work split shifts (prep and service)
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow instruction accurately
- High attention to detail, cleanliness, and consistency
Qualifications
Matric essential; culinary qualification advantageous
