About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and physically and mentally energetic live-in companion to support a wonderful, independently minded 52-year-old autistic woman in Sea Point. This rotational role (bi-weekly) offers the chance to build a meaningful connection while supporting daily life in a calm and culturally rich home.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitating daily and therapeutic activities
- Taking her on outings and to appointments
- Managing and planning weekly activities that are both stimulating and enjoyable
- Facilitating basic hygiene and health maintenance (reminding and encouraging bath time, daily walks, and healthy eating)
- Supporting the understanding of her individual difference sensory profile, and executive functioning (i.e., assisting with creating a routine using visual aids)
- Introducing fun and lightness into everyday routines while maintaining a courteous, polished presence
- Providing emotional support for her
Requirements
- Previous experience in a role supporting neurodivergent individuals – Desirable
- Familiarity with Autistic and/or Neurodivergent Adults – Desirable
- Previous experience in facilitation and life skills training – Desirable
- Willingness to be trained in supporting neurodiverse individuals – Essential
Qualifications
- Formal education/certifications (Bachelor’s, LLB, Matric, etc.) – Not mentioned
Salary & Benefits
- R 20 000 + per month (Salary negotiable depending on qualifications and previous experience)
- Meals: 3 prepared meals daily, delivered to the door
- Bedroom with own bathroom
- Leisure activities: including regularly attending concerts and cinema viewings
- Travel costs incurred while actively fulfilling the duties of this role will be reimbursed at AA rates. Commuting between home and the primary work location is excluded.
- 3-month trial period before deciding on a permanent contract
