Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Planner to join our team on a 12-month contract. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maintenance planning and scheduling within a plant or mining environment, with a solid understanding of CMMS/maintenance management systems and Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA). This role requires excellent analytical, organisational, and planning skills, as well as computer literacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed maintenance plans and schedules for all mechanical maintenance activities, including preventative, predictive, and corrective work.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams, supervisors, and production to ensure efficient execution of planned work.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and site-specific standards.
- Create and manage work orders on the CMMS, ensuring accuracy of job scopes, resources, spares, and timelines.
- Analyse equipment history and failure trends to improve maintenance planning and reduce unplanned downtime.
- Liaise with stores and procurement to ensure availability of required spares, materials, and tools prior to job execution.
- Prepare shutdown and outage schedules, ensuring optimal resource allocation and minimal production disruption.
- Monitor schedule compliance and provide feedback on planning effectiveness and areas for improvement.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and documentation in line with operational requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency.
- Assist with maintenance budgeting, cost control, and resource planning.
Requirements
- BEng / BSc / BTech / National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a mining or heavy industrial environment
- Proven experience in maintenance planning and scheduling within a plant or mining environment
- Strong working knowledge of CMMS/maintenance management systems (e.g., SAP, Pragma, or similar)
- Solid understanding of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and engineering standards
