Stellenbosch: IT Systems Administrator (Infrastructure & Network)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator to join our team in Stellenbosch. As a key member of our infrastructure and network team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our Windows servers, virtualization environment, and Google Workspace accounts. You will work closely with our technical staff to ensure the smooth operation of our systems and provide on-call support for critical incidents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure & Systems Management Support Windows Server and virtualization (Hyper-V/VMware)
  • Manage users in Active Directory and Google Workspace (accounts, groups, permissions)
  • Monitor backups (SAN/NAS) and perform test restores
  • Track system health (CPU, RAM, storage) and escalate issues
  • Administer Google Workspace (shared drives, mail flow, security)
  • Network Administration Monitor LAN, WAN, and VPN connectivity
  • Assist with setup of switches, routers, and firewalls
  • Manage VLANs and DHCP requests
  • Monitor network traffic and maintain wireless security

Requirements

  • IT Diploma or equivalent qualification in Network Management
  • 3 – 5 years in a technical role with a focus on backend systems rather than end-user support
  • Strong experience in Windows server (2019/2022), virtualization, and SAN/NAS storage
  • Solid understanding of the OSI model, TCP/IP and how traffic flows through a firewall
  • Experience with endpoint, application and infrastructure security tools and practices
