About the Role
Bushwise is seeking a highly experienced and charismatic Field Guide to join our luxury boutique lodge in the scenic Southwest Waterberg region of Limpopo, adjacent to one of South Africa’s most established Big Five reserves. As a Field Guide, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality game drives, supporting guest activities, and ensuring guests enjoy an engaging and memorable safari experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular game drives inside Welgevonden Game Reserve, benefiting from its low vehicle density, excellent wildlife sightings, and beautiful Waterberg landscapes.
- Lead short guided walks and nature activities on the lodge’s own plains game property, which does not require Trails qualifications.
- Interact with guests, creating memorable experiences through creative guest interactions such as stargazing, kids activities, and bush talks.
- Upsell additional game drives and activities to enhance the guest experience.
- Host guests at dinner and assist with other duties as required.
Requirements
- Clear criminal record.
- Strong and reliable employment history – references will be verified.
- Own transport preferred; if not, must be able to arrange reliable transport to and from a remote farm location. A transport plan must be presented during the interview.
- Fluent in either Afrikaans, Dutch or Flemish (non-negotiable).
- FGASA Field Guide Qualification.
- CATHSSETA certificate.
- NDT Registration.
- Valid Drivers License.
- Valid PDP.
- Valid First Aid certification.
- Minimum 24 years experience guiding in a Big 5 reserve.
- Strong hosting and guest interaction skills.
- Strong knowledge of Waterberg ecology, flora, and fauna preferred.
- Maintenance and basic mechanical ability highly considered.
