About the Role

The Nursery Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily operations and ensuring the nursery meets its monthly requirements. This is a unique opportunity to join our team and contribute to the growth and success of our avocado tree nursery in the KZN Midlands.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning, organizing, and carrying out daily tasks according to the nursery’s needs
• Organizing and monitoring employees’ everyday tasks
• Conducting daily inspections and observations to inform planning and decision-making
• Tracking, updating, and analyzing records and data on plant progress
• Solving problems related to immediate and long-term requirements of the nursery and avocado plants
• Resolving biological issues such as temperature control and plant health
• Managing staffing challenges and resolving conflicts
• Communicating with clients about orders and questions
• Finding new clients, contacting current clients, and completing plant sales

Requirements

• Technical skills: experience in managing a nursery or similar environment
• Organizational ability: planning both long-term and short-term goals
• Attention to detail: identifying patterns and issues with plants
• Problem-solving skills: handling issues under pressure
• Communication skills: ability to speak Isizulu advantageous
• Adaptability: handling changes and unexpected situations

Qualifications

• Formal education in horticulture, agriculture, or a related field (optional)
