About the Role
We are seeking an experienced External Sales Representative to join our team in Johannesburg, responsible for driving business growth across the instrumentation and control sector through proactive prospecting, relationship-building, and consultative selling.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively prospecting and cold calling to identify new business opportunities
- Meeting with existing and prospective customers to present EC&I product and solutions
- Converting leads into clients through strong relationship-building and consultative selling
- Cross-selling and upselling across the product range to maximise revenue
- Identifying new market opportunities and staying ahead of industry trends and competitor activity
- Representing the company at trade expos, industry events, and client-facing engagements
- Maintaining a strong market presence and building lasting relationships with key decision-makers
- Reporting on pipeline activity, sales performance, and market feedback
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in external sales within electrical engineering, instrumentation, or control industry
- Solid technical knowledge of low and medium voltage switchgear
- Experience selling Zest drives and motors, with established market knowledge and existing relationships (strongly preferred)
- Confident and professional verbal communicator with strong email etiquette and written communication skills
- Proven track record of high customer conversion rates and opportunity spotting
- Technologically literate, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP systems
