About the Role
The Jewellery Processing Centre Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end operations of the facility, dedicated to refurbishment, valuation, and sale of jewellery within the Crusaders Corporate Group of Stores. This role involves ensuring efficiency, quality control, and profitability within the processing centre.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing the workflow for cleaning, repairing, fixing, and remodelling jewellery items.
- Implementing and enforcing stringent quality standards for all finished products before they are sold to customers.
- Ensuring accurate valuation and the creation of appropriate certification for items (e.g., for diamonds, gemstones, and precious metals).
- Managing stock levels, findings (components), stones, and implementing robust systems to prevent loss and shrinkage.
- Leading, motivating, and managing a team of artisans, process controllers, and administrative staff.
- Developing and implementing training programs for JPC staff on the proper procedures for buying, repairing and selling jewellery.
- Coordinating the secure transport of items between stores, the processing centre, and suppliers/refineries.
- Assisting with strategic projects related to the centre’s operations and expansion.
Requirements
- Strong organizational and process management skills to ensure a seamless and efficient workflow.
- Meticulous attention to detail, crucial for quality control of high-value items.
- Ability to lead and develop a team and collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- A Grade 12 qualification is a basic requirement.
- Specialist Certifications to Grade Diamonds, such as those obtained from the Gemmological Institute of America (GIA), are mandatory.
- A relevant tertiary qualification, such as a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Management, or Jewellery Design and Manufacture, is highly advantageous.
Salary & Benefits
The successful candidate will be offered a salary between R30 000 – R35 000 depending on experience.
