About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned Lead DevOps Engineer to drive reliability and scalability across production environments for our client, an organization that focuses on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure and services. As a remote position based in Cape Town City Centre, this role offers a competitive salary range of R135 000 – R145 000 per annum.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of SRE engineers with a minimum of 3 years in a management or leadership capacity.
- Act as the technical authority on SRE practices for GCP to ensure system reliability and uptime.
- Design, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GCP-native tools and industry standards.
- Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using tools such as Terraform or Deployment Manager.
- Drive monitoring and observability initiatives leveraging tools like Grafana, Prometheus, and Stackdriver.
- Troubleshoot complex production incidents to ensure root cause analysis and long-term fixes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent platform performance.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years in a management/leadership capacity within SRE/DevOps teams.
- Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Strong experience working on GCP infrastructure and services.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration at scale.
- Hands-on experience with IaC tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Deployment Manager.
- Strong scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, or Shell.
- UNIX/Linux administration expertise.
Qualifications
Google Cloud certifications such as Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect are highly advantageous.
