About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our team in Centurion, Pretoria. As a key member of our maintenance and assembly team, you will be responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment and machinery. Your expertise will be crucial in diagnosing faults, performing corrective and preventative maintenance, and ensuring that all equipment meets safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment and machinery
- Diagnose faults and perform corrective and preventative maintenance
- Fit, align, and test mechanical components and systems
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery (e.g., grinders, lathes, drills)
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions
- Conduct inspections to ensure equipment meets safety and quality standards
- Replace defective parts such as bearings, gears, shafts, and seals
- Perform mechanical repairs on truck engines, transmissions, suspensions, and hydraulics
- Maintain accurate job cards, maintenance logs, and service records
- Adhere to workplace safety, lockout procedures, and ISO / OEM standards
- Assist in fabrication, welding, and machining as required
Requirements
- Matric Trade-tested Mechanical Fitter (Red Seal or equivalent)
- Minimum 2–5 years mechanical fitting experience in industrial or workshop environments
- Solid experience working with heavy-duty trucks / diesel engines / fleet vehicles
- Ability to work with hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, pumps, and rotating equipment
- Ability to read engineering drawings and technical diagrams
