Job Description
- Source and procure maize, soybeans, and derivative products within South Africa
- Conduct ongoing market analysis, monitoring local pricing trends, crop conditions, and supply/demand dynamics
- Develop and implement pricing strategies aligned to local market conditions
- Execute trades end-to-end, including buying, selling, and contract negotiation
- Build and maintain strong relationships
- Identify and develop new trading opportunities within the local market
- Work closely with logistics and operations teams to ensure efficient execution and delivery
- Manage the full trade lifecycle, from deal structuring through to delivery and payment
- Apply risk management principles, including exposure management and basic hedging where applicable
- Ensure all trades are executed in line with compliance and contractual requirements
Requirements:
- 3–7+ years experience in commodity trading within South Africa (non-negotiable)
- Proven experience trading with Maize and/or Soybeans or related by-products (e.g. oilcake, soybean meal, animal feed inputs)
- Degree in related field will be beneficial
- Strong existing network within the South African agricultural sector
- Demonstrated ability to execute trades end-to-end
- Strong negotiation and deal-closing ability
- Commercially driven with strong profit awareness
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and relationship management skills
