About the Role
Our clients are seeking a reliable and organised Accountant / Bookkeeper and FICA Compliance Support person to provide practical accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, administration and compliance support across three owner-managed businesses operating in the property and legal sectors. This is an important shared-resource role, supporting the principals of the businesses with accurate financial administration, statutory submissions, record-keeping and day-to-day compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate accounting and bookkeeping records for the relevant businesses.
- Process day-to-day financial transactions.
- Perform bank reconciliations and assist with trust account reconciliations where required.
- Capture and reconcile transactions in the relevant accounting systems, including GhostPractice where applicable.
- Assist with monthly financial reports and basic management information.
- Maintain organised financial records and supporting documentation.
- Liaise with the business owners, external accountants and other professional advisers where required.
- Assist with monthly payroll processing.
- Prepare payslips and payroll-related schedules.
- Assist with EMP201 submissions and related payroll administration.
- Support the preparation of annual IRP5 information.
- Assist with VAT, PAYE, UIF and SDL submissions through SARS eFiling.
- Keep records of submissions, payments and supporting documentation.
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of FICA-related processes and records.
- Support customer due diligence and verification processes.
- Maintain FICA files, registers and compliance documentation.
- Assist with gathering and updating client information where required.
- Support ongoing monitoring and escalation of unusual or higher-risk matters to the relevant principals.
- Assist with annual compliance reporting and related administration.
Requirements
Relevant accounting, bookkeeping or finance qualification.
Approximately 24 years practical bookkeeping, accounting or finance administration experience.
Experience in a professional services, legal, property, conveyancing, auctioneering or related environment would be beneficial.
Practical exposure to FICA, client verification, compliance administration or anti-money laundering processes.
