About the Role

The FMCG Clearing & Forwarding Manager (Incorporating Import & Export Control) role is a critical position in our company’s operations, responsible for managing the clearing, forwarding, and compliance function to improve revenue generation and ensure efficient movement of goods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations in the Clearing and Forwarding department with at least 5 years of experience in a Customs Clearing and Forwarding Environment.
  • Update the SAP System daily and generate and send the PO planning report to relevant parties on a weekly basis.
  • Customs clear and submit shipments via EDI, and ensure final release is obtained from Customs.
  • Apply for ITAC permits and DAFF permits 1 month before expiration, and apply for Rebate permits 3 months before expiration.
  • Negotiate Freight Rates with Shipping Lines and make bookings with Shipping Lines and Airlines for Exports.
  • Compile all required documents for successful and timeous release of import and export shipments.
  • Plan and co-ordinate container deliveries to nominated cold stores within the free period allowed by the Port and shipping lines.
  • Communicate and follow up with Shipping Lines on potential issues regarding the release of containers or outstanding documents.

Requirements

  • Supply Chain and Logistics experience.
  • Experience and familiarity with Customs documentation and a SAP operational environment.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or any other related degree; or a related diploma/certificate; and Matric.
  • Good computer skills, familiar with MS-Office Suite (Outlook, Excel and Word).
