About the Role
SA Steelworks has a Qualified Boilermaker position available at our Branch in the Airport Industria, Cape Town. The successful candidate will provide support to the Boilershop Department and will report to the Boilershop Team Leader.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for manufacture/fabrication/assembly and or erection of work
- Responsible for day to day maintenance of machinery in and around the plant
- Responsible for attending to breakdowns of machinery in and around the plant
- Will perform daily inspection of the plant (RCM: Reliable Centralized Maintenance system)
- General housekeeping in and around the boilermaker workshop
Requirements
- Must be a qualified boilermaker with minimum 5 – 8 years working experience
- Must have own transport and a valid unendorsed license
- Must be able to work overtime, public holidays and weekends if required
- Must be available for callouts when needed
- Must be available for December and Easter shutdowns
- Previous working experience in a steel environment (Meltshop) will be an advantage
- Must have extensive knowledge of structural steel with the ability to read drawings and build equipment with minimum supervision
- Must be able to work well within a team environment
- Must be able to work independently when required
- Ability to work under challenging conditions
- Must have basic knowledge of Health & Safety Rules
- Good communication skills
- Knowledge of various hand and workshop tools is an advantage
- Must not have a fear of heights or confined spaces
- Must have experience with Automated Maintenance systems
- Must have good fitness levels and mobility
