About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Toolmaker to join our team in Cape Town. As a key member of our manufacturing department, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing tools, machinery, and equipment to ensure optimal production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate lathes, milling machines, grinders, and related machinery safely and efficiently
- Manufacture and repair moulds, machine components, and related tooling to exact specifications
- Manufacture, assemble, and repair tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures to precise specifications
- Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to produce components and ensure production aligns with design requirements
- Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of tools
- Ensure tools meet required tolerances and quality standards
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimise tool design and functionality
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in compliance with health and safety standards
- Record maintenance and repair activities accurately
- Conduct fault finding, troubleshooting, and liaise with management to resolve technical discrepancies
Requirements
- Minimum 3 to 5 years experience as a Toolmaker in the manufacturing industry
- Trade Tested Toolmaker (Red Seal certification preferred)
- Strong knowledge of machining, tooling, and CNC programming
- Proficient in operating and maintaining all major toolroom machinery
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capabilities
- Sound understanding of technical drawings and specifications
Qualifications
- Grade 12 / N2 minimum
- Trade Tested Tool, Jig, and Die Maker (MERSETA)
- Computer literacy in Excel and Word
