About the Role
Mayfly Agri is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Dundee. As a key member of our agricultural equipment maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our tractors, farm implements, trucks, and earth-moving machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing scheduled preventative maintenance and servicing on tractors, farm implements, trucks, and earth-moving machinery.
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults on diesel-powered equipment.
- Conducting breakdown repairs and emergency callouts to minimise downtime during critical farming periods.
- Servicing and maintaining vehicles and transport fleet to ensure roadworthiness and compliance.
- Inspecting and repairing farm implements such as planters, harvesters, balers, and spray equipment.
- Overhauling engines, gearboxes, and major components when required.
- Maintaining accurate records of all maintenance work, parts used, and service history on job cards.
- Ordering and managing spare parts inventory to ensure critical components are readily available.
- Working standby duties, overtime, weekends, and public holidays as operationally required.
- Adhering to all safety protocols, policies, and legal requirements (including the OHS Act) while working under pressure in a fast-paced agricultural environment.
Requirements
- National Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
- Valid Red Seal Trade Certificate for Diesel Mechanic
- Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience as a Mechanic
- Proven experience working on tractors, farm implements, trucks, and earth-moving equipment
- Valid driver’s licence (PDP will be an advantage) and own reliable transport
- Good communications skills with fluency in Afrikaans and English (Reading, Writing, Speaking)
