Job Description
About the Role
The Electronics Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting various electronic systems used in a mining environment. This role requires strong technical knowledge of electronics engineering and experience working with Proximity Detection Systems (PDS), two-way radios, GPS tracking systems, and other related equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and configure Proximity Detection Systems (PDS) on mining equipment
- Install and set up two-way radio communication systems (VHF/UHF)
- Install and configure GPS tracking systems on mobile and fixed assets
- Conduct system testing and commissioning
- Perform routine maintenance on electronic systems and equipment
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on: PDS systems, radios and communication devices, GPS tracking units, control modules and wiring systems
- Identify and resolve system faults using diagnostic tools and software
- Monitor system performance and reliability
- Provide technical support to site personnel and operators
- Assist with upgrades and system improvements
Requirements
- National Diploma / N6 / Trade Test in: Electronics Engineering or Electrical Engineering (Light Current preferred)
- 35 years of experience in a mining or industrial environment
- Experience with PDS systems is advantageous
Qualifications
- Formal education in Electronics Engineering or Electrical Engineering
