About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Branch Manager to lead our global logistics operations in Durban. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and motivating operational staff, ensuring excellent customer service, and driving business growth through effective shipping strategies and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and motivate operational staff, considering succession planning and training within company policy and budget.
  • Ensure all departments are adequately structured and staffed at all times to prevent poor service levels or operational performances.
  • Conduct regular client visits and engagement to ensure service excellence and client retention.
  • Review transporters/third-party suppliers and ensure only reliable and reputable service providers are used, with back-to-back trading terms and conditions in place.
  • Assist operational staff with their duties, providing guidance and technical support where required.
  • Review operational systems and procedures to improve performance, participating in audits and resolving non-conformances as needed.
  • Assist with the acquisition of new business and ensure all operations are conducted within national and international legal requirements.
  • Monitor and control customs refunds, provisional payments, and customs issues.
  • Develop and implement shipping strategies, KPIs, and operational processes to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Lead and manage a shipping and operations team, ensuring high service standards and strong customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF qualification
  • MS Excel skills
  • Strong Leadership skills
  • Multimodal experience
  • Excellent administration skills and attention to detail
  • Strong planning and organising abilities
  • Ability to work well under pressure
