A proudly South African engineering company with a strong international footprint is seeking two ambitious Junior Mechanical Engineers to join its Contracts Engineering Division.

About the Role
As a Junior Contracts Engineer, you will work alongside experienced engineering and project professionals who will mentor and develop you into independently managing multiple engineering contracts and projects.
Once projects are awarded by the sales team, you will become involved in the full project lifecycle from understanding the technical scope and sourcing components, through fabrication and supplier coordination, all the way to installation and commissioning support.
This role offers exposure to both the technical and commercial sides of engineering and is ideal for candidates who enjoy variety, responsibility, and seeing projects come to life
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the management and coordination of multiple engineering projects simultaneously
- Review project scope, specifications, and technical requirements
- Liaise with suppliers, fabricators, and service providers to ensure project deliverables are achieved
- Support procurement and sourcing activities for project components and equipment
- Monitor project schedules, timelines, budgets, and progress
- Assist with project planning, documentation, and reporting
- Coordinate fabrication and manufacturing activities
- Support installation and commissioning activities on client sites
- Work closely with internal engineering, sales, procurement, and production teams
- Assist with problem-solving, technical queries, and project-related decision-making
- Build strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and project stakeholders
- Gain exposure to contracts management, commercial processes, and project execution strategies
Exposure to Mining & Process Technologies
Successful candidates will gain exposure to specialised mineral processing and liquid-solid separation technologies, including: Belt Filters, Filter Presses, Clarifiers, Thickeners, Pressure Filtration Systems, Dewatering Technologies, Slurry and Process Handling Systems, OEM Process Plant Projects within Mining Operations.
Projects are executed across both South African and international mining markets, providing valuable exposure to large-scale industrial engineering environments.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- 12 years engineering experience advantageous
- Recent graduates with strong academic performance and a genuine interest in project/contracts engineering will also be considered
- Strong technical understanding with a willingness to grow commercially
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Eagerness to learn and develop within a project-driven engineering environment
- Proficient computer skills and familiarity with engineering documentation
- Willingness to travel locally or internationally
