About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and creative Assistant Head Chef to join our luxury safari lodge kitchen in Sabi Sands, South Africa. As an integral member of our culinary team, you will assist the Head Chef with all kitchen operations and take full responsibility in their absence. This live-in role offers the opportunity to work in a 5-star environment serving a maximum of 16 guests.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef in managing the kitchen department
Run kitchen operations solo when the Head Chef is on leave
Prepare high-quality dishes according to lodge standards
Maintain strict hygiene and food safety standards
Manage stock, ordering, and kitchen equipment
Contribute creativity and new ideas to menus and presentations
Ensure smooth and efficient kitchen workflow

Requirements

Proven experience as a Chef in 5-star game lodges and/or high-end restaurants
Strong culinary skills with attention to detail and presentation
Ability to work independently and lead a small kitchen team
Passion for creating innovative dishes and delivering exceptional guest experiences
Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and long-term commitment to the lodge

Qualifications

Formal education in Culinary Arts or related field (not specified)

Salary & Benefits

R17 000 per month
