About the Role
The Organisational Safety Business Partner role at Empact Group Southern Africa is a critical position that ensures our organisations compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. This role requires a strong understanding of safety regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct safety inspections and audits on a frequent and regular basis.
- Compile risk assessments annually.
- Conduct regular Fire Prevention inspections.
- Ensure all safety signs and notices are prominently displayed at all sites.
- Ensure machinery is in good working order and maintained in accordance to OHS requirements.
- Maintain good housekeeping principles at all sites.
- Conduct monthly inspections.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements (OHS Act, Municipal By-laws, etc.).
- Manage administration related to Health and Safety.
- Submit and maintain IOD claims.
- Compile monthly Occupational Health and Safety reports.
- Carry out job observations on high-risk activities and provide feedback.
- Chair quarterly safety meetings with the safety officers.
- Conduct toolbox talks at branch level.
- Coordinate all H&S training of employees.
- Inform and update Regional Manager on compliance levels of each business unit.
- Ensure all suppliers and external consultants adhere to all Group Policies and Procedures.
Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 or equivalent qualification; Health and Safety Tertiary qualification is preferred.
- Experience: 3-5 years experience in Health and Safety.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices.
- Proficiency in safety reporting and documentation tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for identifying hazards and determining effective preventative measures.
- Good numeric and administrative skills.
- Planning, leading, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
- SAMTRAC Qualification is advantageous.
- Environmental law (14001) and OHS (45001) is ideal.
