Job Description

The Porters at La Residence are a vital part of our guests’ experience during their time with us. From assisting with luggage during arrivals and departures, to ensuring all equipment, outdoor furniture and fireplaces are ready to be enjoyed, the Porters play a big role in ensuring that we live up to the purpose of the company, which is “to give our guests a complete experience and a perfect stay” . MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Meet and greet guests in order to collect and deliver luggage on arrival and departure. Offer valet services to our guests. Maintain activity equipment (bicycles etc.) with the aid of our Tour Guides. Monitor and service pool area – putting out pool loungers, cushions, umbrellas lanterns etc. Replace firewood stocks and assist to clean out fireplaces. Assist with any transportation requirements on property and to and from the surrounding areas. Assist with Housemen duties. Understand, live and breathe the Purpose and Values statement of the company. REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS Must have at least 2 years’ experience in a 5* Hotel environment. Ability to multitask and with excellent time-management. Proven job reliability, diligence, dedication and attention to detail. Ability to communicate well in English, both verbal and written. Valid driver’s license. High school diploma or relevant qualification required. Must be flexible and willing to work shifts, nights, weekends and public holidays. It is important that the candidate is able to work as part of a team and is a good cultural fit for The Royal Portfolio. South African citizenship is advantageous. A valid work permit is essential if you are not in possession of a South African ID document. Please note it is a condition of employment, that all staff undergo a pre-employment polygraph test.
