Job Description

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge / Skills / Experience)

  • Trade Tested and Qualified Turner Machinist (Red Seal)
  • Minimum 4–8 years post-qualification experience, preferably within the pulley manufacturing industry
  • Toolroom experience will be advantageous
  • CNC programming experience using Mastercam, Edgecam, or Fusion
  • Sound knowledge of:
    • CNC and conventional lathes
    • Milling machines
    • Surface grinders
    • Tools and cutter grinders
  • Knowledge of projection weld tooling and assembly fixtures will be advantageous

Key Responsibilities / Job Description
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Select appropriate cutting tools for machining operations using CNC or conventional lathes
  • Program, set up, and operate CNC lathes and milling machines
  • Mount and dismount workpieces on/from machines
  • Perform roughing and finishing machining operations
  • Machine shafts, drum disc bores, and related components as instructed
  • Machine keyways, drill and tap holes on shafts according to drawings
  • Operate boring mills, including:
    • Standard boring mills
    • Shibaura Vertical Boring Mill
    • Large conventional lathes when required
  • Ensure all machined components are correctly stamped with job numbers and casting numbers
  • Inspect finished components to ensure compliance with technical drawings and specifications
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and tooling
  • Maintain cleanliness of machines and work areas (including removal of swarf/chips)
  • Assist and support other departments when required
  • Participate in training and skills development within own or other departments
  • Attend weekly Green Area meetings
  • Maintain proper housekeeping standards at all times
  • Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations—personal and team safety is critical
  • Adhere to company disciplinary code of conduct and timekeeping requirements
  • Carry out any other reasonable work instructions issued by management or superiors
