Job Description
The Mechanical Engineer (Technical & Sales Support) will provide technical support to the Sales Department, assisting with fan selection, customer solutions, and the ongoing development of the company’s fan selection software.
This role combines engineering fundamentals with customer-facing support and is critical in ensuring accurate, efficient, and competitive technical solutions for clients
Responsibilities: 1. Technical Fan Selection Support
- Support the Sales Department with accurate fan selection based on customer requirements.
- Interpret project specifications, drawings, and operating conditions.
- Ensure selected solutions meet performance, cost, and application requirements.
2. Fan Selection Software Development
- Assist in the completion, testing, and enhancement of the company’s fan selection software.
- Support development of calculation logic, data inputs, and reporting outputs.
- Help improve usability, accuracy, and presentation of technical reports.
3. Customer Technical Support
- Provide technical solutions and recommendations to customers.
- Assist in preparing technical submissions, proposals, and datasheets.
- Provide drafting support (layouts, GA drawings, and technical sketches) where required.
4. Sales & Project Support
- Work closely with the sales team during RFQs, tenders, and quotations.
- Support turnaround of technical queries and customer clarifications.
- Assist in ensuring all technical deliverables are accurate and aligned with project requirements.
5. Quality & Process Support
- Support Engineer 01 in implementing and improving quality control systems.
- Assist in standardising technical documentation and reporting formats.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering and sales processes.
6. Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of basic mechanical and fluid principles.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and drawings
- Interest in fan performance, HVAC, or industrial airflow systems.
- Basic knowledge of Excel or calculation tools (advantageous).
7. Competencies & Attributes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Good communication skills (important for customer interaction)
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure (quotation/tender deadlines)
- Willingness to learn both technical and commercial aspects of the business

- Accuracy of fan selections and technical recommendations
- Turnaround time on RFQs and technical submissions
- Quality and clarity of technical reports and drawings
- Contribution to development and improvement of selection software
- Support provided to sales team in securing order

Minimum Requirements
- South African Unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 34.
- Must not have participated on the YES Programme before.
- Matric.
- BEng / BTech / National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Exposure to CAD software (Inventor, Solid Edge, or similar) is advantageous.
