About the Role

Zecutive Consultants is seeking an experienced Fire Engineer to join our team in Gauteng. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing and installing fire suppression and detection systems, with a focus on performance-based designs that meet international standards such as NFPA and FM Global. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and bring their expertise to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and install fire suppression and detection systems in various industries
  • Prepare fire plans according to SANS 10400-T and associated supporting SANS codes
  • Interface with fire departments during the approval process
  • Develop performance-based designs (rational designs) that require an in-depth understanding of fire engineering
  • Conduct sprinkler system design and implementation
  • Perform sprinkler hydraulics calculations
  • Calculate smoke control parameters, including Fire growth and size, Heat Release Rate, smoke generation, and smoke fill rate
  • Design fire detection systems
  • Rationalize fire designs with reference to BS 7974 and supporting PDs
  • Utilize engineering design software for project management of fire protection system installations (Stage 5)
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their specific needs and requirements

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering or Relevant qualification
  • 2-4+ years of experience with the following:
  • Designing and installing fire suppression and detection systems
  • Mining industry experience recommended
  • Fire plan preparation and submission (as a minimum)
  • Sprinkler system design and implementation
  • Sprinkler hydraulics
  • Smoke control calculations
  • Fire detection system design
  • Rational fire design with reference to BS 7974 and the supporting PDs
  • Prior knowledge of international sprinkler codes such as NFPA & FM Global will be advantageous

Qualifications

  • Formal education/certifications in Engineering or a relevant field (Bachelor’s, LLB, Matric, etc.)
