About the Role
Network Finance is seeking a Power Electronics Engineer to work on the development and support of high-power conversion products used in utility-scale renewable energy and industrial applications. This role is hands-on and product-focused, suited to an engineer who understands grid-connected power conversion, battery energy storage, and industrial motor control, and who is comfortable working in complex, regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and development of high-power converters and inverters for renewable energy and energy storage systems
- Support the lifecycle of grid-connected solar PV inverters, battery converters, and related power electronics products
- Develop and review power stage designs including DC/DC, DC/AC, and AC/AC topologies
- Selection and validation of power semiconductor devices (IGBTs, MOSFETs, SiC)
- Perform circuit simulation, control loop analysis, and performance optimisation
- Support factory and site testing, commissioning, and fault investigation
- Work closely with control, systems, and commissioning engineers
- Ensure compliance with electrical standards and gridcode requirements
Requirements
- BEng / BSc in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
- 3+ years’ experience in power electronics design or product support
- Strong understanding of medium to high-power conversion systems
- Experience with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, LTspice, or PSpice
- Practical experience with testing and troubleshooting power electronic hardware
- Solid understanding of thermal management, EMC, and protection schemes
