Portfolio Manager : Bedfordview GP (On-Site)

A well-established financial services and brokerage firm is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Portfolio Manager within the Commercial Insurance space. This full-time, on-site role is based in Bedfordview and offers an excellent opportunity to take ownership of an established client portfolio while actively driving organic growth through strategic new business development.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Client Portfolio Management: Manage, service, and retain an allocated portfolio of diverse commercial and corporate insurance clients.

  • New Business Development: Actively source, develop, and secure new business opportunities to expand the existing portfolio.

  • Risk Assessments & Advising: Conduct structured client reviews and comprehensive risk assessments to provide tailored insurance solutions aligned with client needs.

  • Market Negotiations: Prepare and present professional quotations and proposals, negotiating competitive terms with insurers and underwriting partners.

  • Compliance & Claims Support: Ensure strict adherence to all regulatory and internal compliance frameworks, maintain meticulous records independently, and provide efficient claims support and liaison when required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Professional Qualifications:

    • Successful completion of the Regulatory Examination for Representatives (RE5).

    • Full FAIS compliance status.

    • An NQF Level 4 or 5 qualification in Short-Term Insurance.

  • Professional Experience:

    • 5 to 10 years of experience within the insurance industry across short-term, commercial, Assets All Risks, personal lines, or travel portfolios.

    • A proven track record of managing, retaining, and successfully growing a client portfolio.

    • Strong, verifiable experience in cold-sourcing and new business development.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Exceptional sales, structuring, and closing skills.

    • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook).

  • Attributes: Polished client-facing presentation, strong communication abilities, and an uncompromising attention to detail regarding insurance compliance and risk documentation.

  • Afrikaans Fluent
