Pastry Sous Chef Luxury Lodge Hoedspruit Area Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a talented and passionate Pastry Sous Chef for a luxury lodge situated in the Hoedspruit area. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative pastry professional who thrives in a high-end hospitality environment and is dedicated to delivering exceptional culinary experiences. Working alongside the Executive Chef, the successful candidate will play a key role in leading the pastry kitchen, developing innovative dessert offerings and maintaining the highest standards of quality and presentation. Key Responsibilities Assist the Executive Chef with the management and daily operations of the pastry kitchen Develop and create innovative, seasonal desserts, pastries and baked goods that align with the lodges culinary vision Ensure consistent preparation and presentation of all pastry items to luxury hospitality standards Supervise pastry production and oversee daily kitchen operations Manage stock control, inventory levels and ordering requirements Maintain exceptional standards of food quality, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness Ensure compliance with food safety and health regulations Train; mentor and develop junior pastry chefs and kitchen staff Delegate tasks effectively and promote a positive, collaborative kitchen culture Assist in managing food costs through waste reduction and efficient ingredient utilisation Maintain accurate production and stock records Prepare customised desserts for guests with specific dietary requirements or special occasions Requirements Diploma or Degree in Culinary Arts with a focus on Pastry Arts Minimum 35 years experience within a luxury hospitality or high-end culinary environment At least 12 years experience in a supervisory or leadership role Advanced pastry skills including chocolate work, sugar artistry and artisanal bread-making Strong creativity with a passion for designing visually appealing and innovative desserts Excellent organisational and time-management abilities Strong leadership and team management skills High attention to detail and commitment to excellence Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment Physically fit and able to meet the demands of a busy kitchen operation Package Negotiable salary dependent on experience Live-in position Opportunity to work within a prestigious luxury lodge environment Access to quality ingredients and modern kitchen facilities
