About the Opportunity

Our client, a well-established and growing company operating within the Electrical Services sector, is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and highly organised Financial Manager to join their team based in Hout Bay, Cape Town.

This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and who can confidently take ownership of the company’s financial administration, reporting, payroll, compliance, and day-to-day financial operations. The successful candidate will report directly to the Managing Director (MD) and play a key role in supporting business performance through sound financial management and strategic financial insight.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Managing the company’s day-to-day financial operations
  • Processing and maintaining accurate financial records using Xero Accounting Software
  • Performing banking functions and bank reconciliation
  • Maintaining and updating the cashbook
  • Preparing and processing quotations, invoices, and purchase orders
  • Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Monitoring debtor accounts and following up on outstanding payments
  • Processing supplier payments and supporting procurement activities
  • Managing payroll administration, salaries, wages, and employee financial records
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns and ensuring tax compliance
  • Assisting with tax administration and statutory financial obligations
  • Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports
  • Monitoring expenditure and budget performance
  • Assisting with financial forecasting, planning, and cash flow management
  • Ensuring accurate filing and record-keeping of financial documentation
  • Liaising with accountants, auditors, financial institutions, suppliers, and external stakeholders
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, financial controls, and regulatory requirements
  • Providing financial insights and support to management decision-making processes
  • Supporting business growth through sound financial planning and reporting


Requirements

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Financial Management, Bookkeeping, or a related field
  • Minimum of 35 years’ experience in a similar finance, accounting, or financial management role
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero Accounting Software
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with payroll processing, VAT administration, tax compliance, banking, and reconciliations
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping and financial administration principles
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Own reliable vehicle and dependable transport
  • Clean criminal record
  • Contactable professional references

Advantageous Qualifications & Experience

  • Bookkeeping Certification
  • Payroll Administration Certification
  • Xero Advisor Certification
  • Sage Certification
  • SAIPA or SAICA Articles and/or related experience
  • Experience with Sage or other accounting platforms
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Knowledge of South African labour legislation and tax regulations
  • Previous experience within the electrical, construction, engineering, or technical services sectors
