About the Role
Motus Aftermarket Parts is seeking a Controller:Debtors to join our Meadowview Head Office branch in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the debt collection process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of customer payments, and providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs tasks associated with receiving and receipting payments from the customer database
- Provides information and explanation on charges and penalties to customers
- Reconciles total collections against receipts
- Prepares schedules for verification prior to forwarding cash and cheques for depositing
- Sends out statements and actively collects funds owed to the company from customers
- Processes transactional data referring to specific transactional documentation and recordings
- Attends to amendments/adjustments and posts transactions to specific accounts
- Executes procedures with respect to receipting and reconciling rates and services-related income
- Generates and forwards printouts of payments and completes procedural forms for banking purposes
- Prints and posts consolidated bills to customers
- Ensures accurate processing of income-related transactions according to accounting procedures and practices
- Monitors customer accounts and recovers outstanding amounts
- Interacts with service departments regarding disconnections/reconnections or resumption of services
- Prepares documentation and records for handover to activate legal proceedings and collection
- Documents payment term arrangements as agreed to with customers
- Executes write-off sequences for unrecoverable debts upon approval
- Maintains arrear debtors within 2% of the total debtors allocation
- Provides back-up support in absence of other controllers
- Attends to specific correspondence/telephonic enquiries and communicates routine information or refers queries
Requirements
- Grade 12
- Relevant certificate/diploma (advantageous)
- Basic accounting procedures
- Competent in MS Office, databases, and accounting software
