Johannesburg: Corporate Legal Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Corporate Legal Manager to join our team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will provide strategic legal advice to the CEO and EXCO, as well as advise on organisational company requirements. This is a senior role that requires strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of applicable laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise CEO and EXCO on strategic legal matters and organisational companies requirements
  • Present legal advisory notes in business-friendly language to management
  • Explain all implications to management
  • Manage projects or contracts using a Document management system such as SharePoint or similar
  • Chair disciplinary matters related to labour law
  • Develop and implement sound business plans with measurable outcomes
  • Set and manage priorities judiciously
  • Reviewing legal contracts, drafting new contracts, MOUs, and SLAs, as well as vetting
  • Legislative drafting and policy formulation
  • Compliance monitoring and reporting

Requirements

  • University degree in law (e.g. BProc/BCom Law or LLB)
  • At least five years proven litigation experience
  • Minimum of five years in senior legal advisory or managerial role
  • Working knowledge of PFMA, Treasury Regulations, Companies Act, POPIA, Labour Legislation, Cyber Crimes Act, Property Control Trust Act, and all other applicable statutory and regulatory frameworks

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in law or related field (an added advantage)
