A well-established group is looking for a skilled Data Engineer to join their Information Technology team based in Johannesburg.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing the Group’s data platforms, reporting environments, data integration solutions, and business intelligence capabilities.

Working Hours:
Monday to Friday: 07h00 – 15h00

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and optimise SQL-based databases and data platforms.
• Design, build, and support data ingestion, transformation, and integration processes.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines and ETL solutions.
• Support Azure-based data services and Microsoft Fabric environments.
• Monitor and troubleshoot scheduled data processing activities.
• Develop and maintain Power BI datasets, dashboards, and reports.
• Assist with automation of operational and management reporting.
• Monitor data quality, integrity, and consistency across systems.
• Perform data validation, reconciliation, and root-cause analysis.
• Work with business units to understand reporting and analytics requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric or equivalent qualification.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field will be advantageous.
• 2–5 years’ experience in Data Engineering, BI, Reporting, SQL Development, Data Analytics, or a related technical role.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals certification is essential.
• Must have Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals or Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate.
• Intermediate SQL skills, including complex queries, joins, subqueries, views, and basic stored procedures.
• Experience with reporting and analytics solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Own reliable transport.
• Willingness to travel occasionally between business units.
• Availability to assist with critical support outside normal working hours when required.
• Clear criminal and credit record may be required.

Advantageous Experience:

• Power BI development and support.
• Microsoft Fabric or Azure Data Factory.
• Azure-based data services.
• Data integration and ETL processes.
• API integrations or Python scripting.
• Data warehousing concepts.
