Job Summary The Industrial Electronic Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, programming, and optimisation of industrial electrical, electronic, and automation systems within a continuous 24/7 manufacturing environment. The role focuses on maximising equipment uptime, ensuring safety compliance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across both ageing and new production systems. Responsibilities Install, maintain, fault-find, and repair industrial electrical and electronic systems. Read, interpret, and troubleshoot electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control systems. Program, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC systems (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Delta, and similar platforms). Program, commission, and fault-find variable speed drives (Siemens, Control Techniques, Allen Bradley, etc.). Perform diagnostics using appropriate testing and diagnostic tools. Support and implement industrial automation solutions to improve production efficiency and system reliability. Proactively maintain, upgrade, and modernise ageing equipment to reduce downtime. Prepare, install, and integrate auxiliary equipment onto existing or new production platforms. Participate in breakdown support, planned maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives. Work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering and maintenance team. Be available for extended hours, standby, and callouts as required in a 24/7 operation. Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and quality standards at all times. Matric Qualified Electrician or Millwright OR National Diploma in Electrical / Electronic Engineering Trade Test (Red Seal) mandatory Minimum 810 years experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment Strong understanding of industrial control systems and automation. Proven experience in PLC programming and variable speed drive commissioning. High level of competency in reading and interpreting electrical and control diagrams. Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills. Willingness to work extended hours and participate in standby/call-out rotations.
