About the Role

Hire Resolve is seeking a detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join a dynamic commercial unit within the exhibitions and events sector. This role is essential for maintaining financial control in a high-volume, purchase order-controlled environment, ensuring that supplier relations and ledger accuracy are managed to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable Management: Process supplier invoices using 2-way matching against approved purchase orders, ensuring total accuracy before payment.
  • Dispute Resolution: Investigate and resolve discrepancies between invoices and purchase orders by liaising with budget holders, procurement teams, and suppliers.
  • Financial Controls: Ensure all invoices are correctly coded, approved, and compliant with internal company policies and VAT regulations.
  • Payment Processing: Prepare supplier payment runs in accordance with agreed terms and maintain a clear audit trail.
  • Ledger Maintenance: Perform regular supplier reconciliations and support the Management Accountant with month-end processes.
  • Accounts Receivable Support: Assist the credit control team with revenue-related tasks as required by the business.

Requirements

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in an Accounts Payable or Purchase Ledger role, ideally within a high-volume or shared services environment.
  • Education: AAT(SA) or an equivalent accounting qualification (completed or currently studying towards).
  • Technical Skills: Solid knowledge of purchase ledger processes, VAT on purchase invoices, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Systems: Experience using established accounting systems; experience with purchase order-controlled environments is essential.
  • Attributes: Ability to work to tight deadlines, high level of accuracy, and excellent communication skills for resolving queries with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Industry Exposure: Experience in a commercial or exhibition-focused environment is a distinct advantage.
