Head of New Business | South Africa | Executive Permanent Role
Ready to lead a high-performing sales team and unlock significant growth in the courier and logistics sector? This is a strategic leadership opportunity for a commercially driven executive with a proven track record in winning new business and building sustainable revenue pipelines.
Our client is seeking a Head of New Business to develop and execute the divisions growth strategy, drive new client acquisition, and lead a dynamic sales team focused on expanding market share. This role is responsible for identifying new market opportunities, shaping pricing strategies, strengthening client relationships, and ensuring the sales organisation is optimally structured to deliver ambitious revenue targets.
Reporting to the Commercial Executive, you will oversee a team of 14 direct reports and play a central role in translating strategic goals into actionable plans. You will work closely with marketing, operations, and executive leadership to align go-to-market initiatives, improve market visibility, and ensure a high-performance, service-driven culture.

What Youll Do
- Develop and implement the new business sales strategy to achieve growth targets
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team of new business sales professionals
- Identify and secure new clients, markets, and commercial opportunities
- Analyse market trends, competitor activity, and customer profitability
- Contribute to pricing strategies and commercial decision-making
- Monitor pipeline health and ensure achievement of revenue and service targets
- Collaborate with marketing, operations, and product teams
- Strengthen market visibility and support targeted marketing initiatives
- Participate in sales leadership and executive planning forums
- Build a skilled, engaged, and results-focused workforce
What You Bring
- Bachelors degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field
- MBA or postgraduate qualification advantageous
- 810 years experience in sales, business development, or commercial roles
- 45 years in a senior leadership role
- Proven success in driving new business growth and leading sales teams
- Experience within courier, logistics, transport, supply chain, or B2B services
- Strong commercial acumen and pricing strategy capability
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Advanced Microsoft Office and reporting skills
- Results-driven with strong leadership and coaching ability
