Operations Manager: Cargo Services | Johannesburg | Permanent
Take ownership of a high-impact operations leadership role within a fast-paced cargo environment. Drive performance, compliance, and customer experience across a national network.
This role is responsible for leading and optimising domestic cargo operations, customer experience, and specialised services such as pet handling. You will oversee operational efficiency, ensure regulatory compliance, and implement strategies that enhance service delivery while maintaining cost-effective and sustainable operations. The position requires a strong balance of leadership, operational oversight, and stakeholder engagement within a complex aviation logistics environment.
You will work cross-functionally with internal teams, regulatory bodies, and external partners to ensure seamless cargo handling, service excellence, and continuous improvement across all operational touchpoints. This includes managing reporting frameworks, resolving operational challenges, and ensuring adherence to aviation safety and security standards.

What Youll Do
- Lead and manage national cargo operations, customer experience, and service delivery
- Oversee daily operational activities, ensuring efficiency, coordination, and compliance
- Drive customer satisfaction through proactive engagement and issue resolution
- Manage stakeholder relationships, including clients, service providers, and regulators
- Monitor operational performance metrics, including on-time performance and service levels
- Ensure compliance with aviation safety, security, and regulatory requirements
- Lead, mentor, and develop operational teams while managing performance and capacity
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and cost control measures
- Manage audits, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure accurate billing, claims handling, and discrepancy resolution processes
What You Bring
- Diploma in Business Management or Administration (NQF Level 7)
- 35 years experience in cargo or logistics operations within an airport environment
- At least 3 years in a management role within cargo operations
- Strong knowledge of aviation cargo handling, safety, and regulatory frameworks
- Experience with stakeholder engagement, customer service, and operational reporting
- Understanding of labour legislation and HR/IR practices
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work extended hours and travel when required
