About the Role
Hire Resolve’s client, a leading mining company, is seeking a skilled Laboratory Supervisor to join their team in Kuruman, Northern Cape. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory testing, while also implementing quality management systems and supervising laboratory staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare samples, conduct XRF analysis, and report findings.
- Implement ISO standards and improve systems.
- Maintain and enhance the Quality Management System.
- Train and supervise laboratory staff.
- Oversee laboratory shifts for smooth operations and task completion.
- Plan and monitor workflows based on priorities.
- Ensure timely completion of laboratory tasks.
- Address operational issues and resolve concerns.
- Perform verification checks to maintain accuracy.
- Enforce health and safety standards in the lab.
- Supervise daily lab operations for accurate, timely testing.
- Manage equipment calibration and maintenance schedules.
- Develop and enforce quality control measures for reliable data.
- Review test results and lab performance reports.
- Manage inventory of supplies and chemicals.
- Collaborate with departments to meet production goals.
Requirements
- Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Science
- National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry
- ISO 17025 Certificate
- Valid drivers license
- Familiarity with manganese analysis
- Understanding of sampling techniques and sample preparation processes
- Proficiency in XRF and wet chemistry methods
- Awareness of manganese exposure risks
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience in accredited laboratories
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a mining environment
