Job Summary The Field Guide provides a professional and interpretive safari experience and service to guests ensuring the highest level of responsiveness, care and attention to individual needs and expectations. The Field Guide takes responsibility for conducting a smooth and efficient safari experience for the duration of the guests’ stay as their primary operational responsibility. Job Requirements Thinking Ability High levels of anticipation for the unexpected Ability to understand accents and terminology Ability to anticipate future circumstances, conditions and requests and use these scenarios to plan for the future Ability to recognise safety or security concerns Job Technical Skills Competent in operation of different types of transport vehicles, electronic/digital communication systems and equipment Competent in operation of rifle equipment Knowledge of various Lodge service offerings Ability to follow set standards of performance as expected by the organisation and the local legislation Able to use Microsoft Office applications at a basic level Competent in applying basic to intermediate technical knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair Ability to accurately read a map, follow directions, or programme and follow directions from a GPS system Work Experience & Academic Qualifications 2 Years of previous experience in safari operations of a luxury 5-Star Lodge Apprentice Field Guide (Level 1) Field Guide (Level 2) Valid Driver’s License and PDP Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role Valid First Aid Certificate Back Trails (advantageous) Personal Qualifications Committed to providing exceptional levels of service to others Dedicated to achieving high standards by working with others and demonstrate exceptional levels of integrity Dedicated to safety Ability to work effectively and safely when under pressure and when faced with demands Sanbona shall apply the employment equity principles as set out in the Employment Equity policy and Plan.
