About the Role

The Security K9 Coordinator plays a critical role in managing K9 operations, training, and crime prevention activities within our specialised operational environment. This position requires advanced technical expertise in canine handling, as well as strong leadership skills to oversee daily operations and manage staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate K9 unit operations and crime prevention activities
  • Manage staff within the unit and oversee daily operations
  • Handle dockets, incidents, and reporting processes
  • Apply knowledge of canine behaviour, drive modulation, and body language
  • Implement training techniques for patrol, tracking, and substance detection
  • Ensure compliance with the Criminal Procedure Act, Firearms Control Act, and OHS standards
  • Oversee kennel management and animal transportation

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years supervisory or managerial experience
  • Minimum 2 years crime investigations experience
  • Matric certificate
  • PSiRA registered (minimum Grade C)
  • DH3 minimum qualification, with DH4 or DH5 preferred (SASSETA / PSIRA accreditation)

Qualifications

  • Valid firearm competency for business purposes for handgun, shotgun, and rifle
  • Valid Code 8 drivers license

Salary & Benefits

R16,000 – R20,000 CTC
