is recruiting on behalf of a private game reserve in the Kalahari for an experienced and hands-on Our client is one of South Africa’s most respected private conservation reserves, with a long-standing commitment to biodiversity preservation, environmental research, and the long-term restoration of Kalahari habitats. This is a rare opportunity to join a deeply purpose-led team operating across a vast and beautiful piece of wilderness – where the maintenance function directly underpins both the five-star guest experience at the lodge and the broader conservation mission. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager and based on the reserve, the successful candidate will take ownership of the day-to-day upkeep and repair of lodge facilities, staff accommodation, and supporting infrastructure across the property. The role spans plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry, painting, and mechanical work, alongside infrastructure care for roads, fences, water systems, pumps, and generators. The Senior Handyman will also supervise and guide a small team of junior maintenance staff, and contribute to preventative maintenance planning, workshop standards, and health and safety compliance. · Proven track record in general maintenance or a hands-on handyman role, ideally within a lodge, hospitality, or similar property-based environment. · Trade-tested artisan in one of electrical, carpentry, plumbing, or mechanical – non-negotiable. · Broad practical skill set across plumbing, carpentry, painting, and basic electrical work. · Confident running jobs independently and supervising a small team of junior maintenance staff and general workers. · Strong practical problem-solving instincts and a calm, dependable approach under pressure. · Comfortable with infrastructure work across roads, fences, water systems, pumps, and generators. · Diligent with tools, equipment, and stores – workshop kept clean and orderly, with safe handling and storage of materials throughout. · Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in a remote, sometimes demanding wilderness environment. · Valid driver’s licence (advantageous). · Willing and able to work flexible hours, standby duties, weekends, and live on the property. · Contactable references essential. – on application with live in benefits – ➡️ – Although we appreciate all applications received, we will only reply to those candidates who have the background and experience required.
