Orange Farm: Junior Safety Officer

About the Role

The Junior Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring the overall safety and well-being of employees on Orange Farm in Johannesburg South. This role is a crucial part of maintaining a safe working environment, and we are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine site inspections to identify potential workplace hazards and assess associated risks.
• Develop and implement practical controls to mitigate identified risks before injuries occur.
• Ensure the workplace meets occupational health and safety standards through regulatory adherence and policy enforcement.
• Draft, update, and communicate safety manuals, procedures, and emergency response plans.
• Investigate root causes of accidents, injuries, and near-misses, and formulate strategies to prevent recurrence.
• Keep meticulous records of all safety meetings, equipment inspections, and incident reports.

Requirements

• Understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act)
• HIRA: Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment
• Experience with Incident Investigation and Reporting
