Pinetown: Senior Technician

About the Role

As a Senior Technician in our Pinetown branch, you will play a critical role in maintaining high service levels and ensuring that technical issues are addressed promptly. You will be responsible for providing expert technical support to our clients, managing relationships with our client base, and contributing to the overall success of our branch.

Key Responsibilities

• Service levels are maintained in line with set company standards
• The mechanical repair board is updated, assigning repairs on priority
• Highlighted technical issues from daily MBU meetings are attended to
• Technical issues experienced in the branch are tabled at the weekly technical forum meeting and feedback is provided
• Assisted solutions to problems and updates are relayed to the branch team
• Day-to-day and difficult technical support is provided to staff
• Team members are fully trained, and kept informed of product information
• Optimal relationships with the client base are maintained, ensuring their needs are met
• Warranty replacement levels are monitored and assisted with authorisation
• The usage and replacement of workshop materials are attended to
• Sites are visited as required, providing field support
• Site visit report sheets are completed, and all relevant documentation is ensured
• The technical department maintains acceptable organisation and cleanliness in the work environment
• External training is fulfilled, ensuring that all training materials are up-to-date
• Training for both internal and external customer events or sessions is assisted with
• Stores operations are managed, including forecasting and product identification
• Product identification in the stores is ensured, and the right product is in the right place
• Store personnel are trained on product identification and updates
• Ad-hoc duties are performed as required, such as product launches, training, and internal events

Requirements

• Minimum of Occupational Certificate / Diploma Electrical Engineering Technician (QCTO) NQF Level 6 or N6 combined with 4 to 5 years practical experience
• Strong knowledge and understanding of electronics
• Ability to test, fault find, and repair equipment to circuit board level
• Extensive knowledge and experience in electronic control circuits and mechanical workings as well as repair of motors
