REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12
- National Diploma in Logistics Management or equivalent
- 7 years of experience in a specialist buyer/ senior buyer/ import specialist buyer role
- 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment in procurement roles
- Inco terms
- Warehousing and storage (receipts and FIFO standards)
- Transportation regulations and procedures
- APO/ SAP system
- Knowledge of sourcing new suppliers and products
- Knowledge of market research and trend analysis
- Costing and estimating acumen

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Overall accountability for selecting and negotiating with approved vendors and placing purchase orders in response to product, materials, supply requirements, stock movement and control thereof as established by various departments within the organization at optimal costs to meet business and customer requirements to efficiently and timeously support production and overall purchasing strategy
- Support internal clients by adding value to the bottom line (including cost and quality) through strategic sourcing, procurement and supplying direct materials on an ongoing basis to support production to meet their deadlines in line with set targets and customer expectations
- Select and negotiate with approved vendors and place purchase orders in response to supply requirements to drive cost efficiency
- Implement buying strategies by working with cross-functional teams to develop sourcing and vendor management strategies to improve quality and cost
efficiency - Assess and report on the specific category and contract spend, by conducting regular total cost analyses to track performance results in a continuous cycle to support the business in driving decision-making around cost-reduction opportunities
- Assist in developing, reviewing and implementing purchasing and contract management policies and procedures in line with business requirements
- Regularly liaise with suppliers, secure and review bids with supervisor/ manager before placing orders in line with quality, price, shelf life and profitability objectives
- Ensure effective communication of relevant information to all stakeholders to support decision-making for the business
- Regularly review the APO system (customer releases) for future planned production and manage the availability of stock for future production requirements to minimise unforeseen problems
- Coordinate and verify the procurement and invoicing process to ensure that suppliers and contractors are paid correctly and timeously
- Liaise and build effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers and contractors, to improve services, quality and cost efficiency
- Manage the off-site warehouse by directing activities and monitoring performance to ensure efficient service delivery to manufacturing sites
