Please note this position is based in Saudi Arabia. The client will cover all relocation costs.
The Maintenance Electrical Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all electrical systems and equipment within the facility. This includes overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting electrical issues, supporting shutdown activities, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations. The role requires strong technical knowledge and extensive experience in refinery, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments.
2. Minimum Qualifications
-
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
-
5+ to 7+ years of experience in electrical maintenance within refinery, petrochemical, oil & gas, or heavy industrial manufacturing environments.

Strong understanding of LV, MV, and HV electrical systems.
-
Experience with motors, switchgear, transformers, MCCs, VFDs, and power distribution systems.
-
Knowledge of international electrical standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, ATEX, etc.).

Familiarity with CMMS systems and maintenance best practices.

Experience participating in or leading electrical work during shutdowns/turnarounds.
3. Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Perform and oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.

Diagnose and repair electrical faults in motors, control panels, switchgear, and power systems.

Ensure reliability and availability of electrical equipment.
-
Support major maintenance events, emergency repairs, and plant shutdowns.
Engineering & Technical Support
-
Review electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics, and technical documents.
-
Support installation, commissioning, and upgrades of electrical systems.
-
Provide technical direction to technicians and contractors.

Conduct failure investigations and implement corrective actions.
Safety, Compliance & Documentation
-
Ensure all electrical work complies with HSE rules, LOTO procedures, and statutory regulations.

Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, and electrical testing.

Support internal and external audits.

Ensure hazardous area electrical equipment meets certification requirements.
4. Key Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems.

Skilled in troubleshooting and testing electrical equipment.

Ability to interpret drawings and engineering specifications.

Familiarity with protection systems and relay coordination.

5. Preferred Qualifications

Experience with major OEM systems (Siemens, ABB, Schneider, GE, etc.).

Certification in electrical safety or maintenance engineering.

Experience with power generation or substation equipment.

Experience in planning and executing shutdown/turnaround electrical scope.
