About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Property Accountant to join our team in Somerset West, Western Cape. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for managing full property accounting functions across our commercial and retail portfolio, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full property accounting functions across a commercial and retail portfolio
- Prepare and review monthly management accounts and financial reports
- Oversee tenant billing, rental income, and recoveries
- Perform accounts receivable, accounts payable, and bank reconciliations
- Ensure accurate lease capturing and financial data integrity on MDA Property Manager
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Handle credit control, arrears management, and tenant reconciliations
- Prepare for and assist with audits, statutory reporting, and compliance
- Monitor operating expenses, CAPEX, and cost allocations
- Liaise with property managers, leasing teams, and external stakeholders
Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Accounting / Finance (BCom or equivalent)
- 35 years experience in property accounting (commercial/retail essential)
