About the Role
Bilnor Staffing Solutions is seeking a Foreman (Earthworks) to manage a specific contract or section of works, ensuring productivity, quality, and safety standards are met. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in construction management, staff supervision, and labour legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading and managing one or more construction teams by allocating tasks to team leaders, skilled workers, and general labourers.
- Coordinating and ensuring safe transportation of all labour to and from the workplace.
- Ensuring all team members understand their assigned tasks and providing on-site guidance or demonstrations where required.
- Maintaining a safe working environment by enforcing the use of prescribed personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with all safety procedures and instructions.
Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics and/or an NQF Level 4 qualification will be advantageous.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience within a construction environment.
- Sound knowledge of construction processes and various construction trades.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
- Competence in setting out and leveling.
- Working knowledge of construction materials, plant, and equipment.

SUB-CONTRACTORS
Ensure that subcontractors are provided with the necessary facilities and on-site support.
- Monitor and verify that subcontractors perform their work in accordance with required standards and specifications
SURVEY AND SETTING-OUT
- Perform basic leveling using established benchmarks within the work area.
- Set out lines based on profiles and pegs provided by survey or engineering teams.
- Verify the dimensions and positioning of excavations, pipelines, manholes, formwork, cast-in items, anchor bolts, reinforcement, and related works.
MATERIALS
- Request and requisition materials through the General Foreman as required.
- Monitor and control material wastage through regular on-site observation.
- Inspect and assess the quality of materials on-site to ensure compliance with required standards.
PRODUCTION CONTROL
- Draws up daily programmes in the light of set weekly programmes (the day before) and asks for the necessary plant, labour, and materials.
- Implements the weekly programme agreed with the site agent and general foreman.
- Ensures weekly output required as well as pre-costing are achieved.
- Instructs carpenters on what formwork to use by means of sketches or discussion.
CLIENT AND CONTRACTUAL
- Liaise with the client’s representative on-site (at a certain level).
- Ensures that his workforce is working within the safety regulations.
STAFF AND LABOUR
- Improves the quality of his workforce through instruction and passing on his knowledge.
