About the Role

The Maintenance Manager: Electrical, Mechanical position is a critical role that oversees the maintenance and preventative maintenance work, services, and equipment of all Nelson Mandela University (NMU) Campuses. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and delegating tasks to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and NMU policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, delegate, and carry out electrical maintenance and preventative maintenance as well as new electrical installations.
  • Manage mechanical maintenance and preventative maintenance as well as new mechanical installations on all NMU Campuses.
  • Manage all the electrical and mechanical tasks related to projects.
  • Manage all staff reporting to this post.
  • Advise George Campuses Supervisors regarding all electrical and mechanical work.
  • Manage all works requisitions, job cards, and administration duties daily.
  • Work independently and complete all stand-by related work.
  • Ensure that all maintenance and new work as well as workshops comply with the Occupation Health and Safety Act and Regulations.

Requirements

  • N6 certificate in Electrical Trade
  • Be registered as an Installation Electrician with the Department of Labour (DOL)
  • 3-5 years trade-related work experience
  • Relevant proven management or supervisory experience
  • Code 8 drivers license (Category B)
  • Mechanical experience
  • Any relevant related courses, e.g. Project management
